Herzog & Co - Manson Tragedy

For a hot few years I was a screenwriter and development guy out in Hollyweird. It's a pool I still dip my toe into from time to time and this year I got the chance to work for EMMY Award-winning production company Herzog & Co (CNN's The Sixties, The Seventies, The Eighties). My friend, director Jeffrey Schwarz (I Am Divine, VITO) and I conceived an epic 18-hour documentary on the post-war years in the US, including the counter culture and the go-go 80s, as seen through the lens of Charles Manson and his dubious place in pop-culture.

I wrote the 15-page treatment that was pitched to Herzog who gave us a development deal. I then wrote all the talent outreach letters to people like Roman Polanski, Neil Young, Brian Wilson and Mia Farrow among others. Oh, and of course Charles Manson.
